The castle is located in the heart of Dippoldiswalde. This hilltop castle was built in the 12th century. Today, the castle houses the Dippoldiswalde District Court, the Osterzgebirgsgalerie Museum, and, since August 2018, the Museum of Medieval Mining in the Ore Mountains.
