Location and History: The Breitenbach is a stream approximately 3.4 kilometers long, flowing from west to east. It originates from two springs north of the motocross track in Aichwald and flows into the Schlierbach near the village of Baach. The Gunzenbach and other tributaries in the Aichschießer Hau and Finkenhau areas also join the Breitenbach. Like the Gunzenbach, the Breitenbach is home to the rare European crayfish.
The Breitenbach, like the Gunzenbach, has long been known as a habitat for the European crayfish. There are also pleasant paths and trails along its course.
