Tips

The section from the dunes Uwe to Wennigstedt is highly recommended. Very beautiful thin landscape that leads partly over wooden bridges. A real highlight.

One of the most popular destinations in Kampen is the Red Cliff. A 52m high cliff that stretches between Kampen and Wenningstedt and was for sailors for centuries as orientation. Take a guided walk along the cliff and learn about the geological features. Even in the cold season, when the weather is getting fresher, such a walk in the iodine-laden sea air is good. Especially recommended is a visit at sunset, because it seems as if the cliff was truly bathed in red light.

One of the most beautiful corners of Sylt. Personally, I prefer the view from above the cliff. The structures and colors of the sand are just wonderful to look at.

Absolutely marvel at the setting sun, then it lights up red, otherwise it is only a gray demolition.

Of course visit at dusk, otherwise the red cliff is gray.

The Red Cliff is worth a visit at any time of the day. Depending on the incidence of light, a new intense color appears.

Landmark of the island of Sylt with a length of 4 km and an imposing cliff of almost 30 meters.

Very nice vantage point, at the time when it shines red, correspondingly full.

Very nice to look at, you can tell immediately where the name comes from ...
From the beach you have the best overview of the Red Cliff that extends almost to Wenningstedt.

A really nice section that you should definitely look at. The best view of the Red Cliff is from the beach.

If, after a rainy day down the beach, you walk along the Red Cliff and hit the still wet remains of the material washed off the cliff on the sand, when you then step in barefoot, then you have reddish clay on the sole of the foot and between them Stick toes. That's when my childhood memories are awakening ... How long will the cliff defy erosion?

Absolutely also from below, from the beach side view. Here you can see the expectation of a cliff confirmed (at least mine) and see through the contrast with the bright sand, why the cliff is called the Red Cliff. If you are lucky enough that rain has rinsed the earth on the bright sand, I recommend stepping barefoot into the wet, loamy lint. That's where the difference can be experienced. The feet are quickly released from the mud in the sea water.
