Located directly at the airport, it makes 100 years of exciting aerospace history come alive. The architecture, which is based on an aircraft hangar, houses almost 400 exhibits on 6,000 square meters, including twelve original aircraft, seven 1:1 exhibits from space travel and two full-scale replicas of the Dornier Merkur and Dornier Wal aircraft.

Dornier-Werke GmbH, from 1966 Dornier GmbH, Dornier for short, was a German aircraft manufacturer. The original Zeppelin Werk Lindau GmbH - based in Manzell on Lake Constance, from 1922 to 1938 Dornier-Metallbau GmbH, then Dornier-Werke GmbH and from 1966 Dornier GmbH - had expanded in the 1930s through branches in the Bavarian locations of Neuaubing and Oberpfaffenhofen as well as in Wismar and Lübeck expanded with the North German Dornier works. After the Second World War, Dornier began again with aircraft construction, first in 1951 with the Oficinas Técnicas Dornier (OTEDO) in Spain and from 1954 in Immenstaad. In 1985 the company was taken over by Daimler-Benz and later partially integrated into EADS via the aerospace group DASA. Previously, the civil aircraft construction including development was spun off and taken over by Fairchild; In 2002, Fairchild Dornier filed for bankruptcy. Dornier's military aviation, space, defense and systems technology is now part of Airbus Defense and Space.
