The battle on the LechfeldIn the year of the Lord in 955, when the Hungarians were still a wild horsemen who regularly undertook extensive raids, a great battle of arms took place on Bavarian soil, which went down in history as the "Battle on the Lechfeld". Not far from Augsburg this fight is said to have raged. According to more recent findings, however, it could actually have happened elsewhere. - Ulrich Zwack sheds light on the historical background of the murderous struggle one thousand and sixty years ago.

Immediately next to the Ulrichsbrücke, the city erected a memorial in 1955 on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Lechfeld on the Lechufer facing the city center. The so-called Ulrichsstein was created according to a design by the city building officer Walther Schmidt
