Mountain Biking Highlight
The landscape protection area Eiskeller in the district of Berlin Hakenfelde (district Spandau) lies with an area of 51.6 hectares at the westernmost tip of the Spandauer forest. The meadow in Eiskeller is under special protection as an areal natural monument.
The name goes back to the Eiskeller, where ice cream from the nearby Falkenhagener See was stored for a brewery.
Eiskeller is considered in winter to be the coldest place in Berlin. On clear, windless nights, the temperatures are often up to ten degrees Celsius below those in the city center. In summer, it can be hotter than in the surrounding area
