The first documented mention of the church in Rhade dates back to 1336. 1768, a new church was inaugurated after the predecessor had been demolished because of danger of collapse. In a major fire in 1811, the church, like many buildings in Rhade, burned to the ground. The re-inauguration of the church took place in 1817.
