The 1900 x 1400 m large, heavily reeded Rederangsee lies in the middle of the marshland on the east bank of the Müritz in the core zone of the national park.
There is an observation platform on the north shore of the lake, which is easily accessible from Federow or Schwarzenhof on marked hiking trails by bike or on foot. From the vantage point you can watch waterfowl and, with a bit of luck, a white-tailed eagle while hunting or just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.In spring and autumn, thousands of cranes spend the night on the shallow shores of the lake on their way to the breeding grounds in the north or the wintering quarters in the south. A special natural spectacle is offered in the early morning when the birds leave for their feeding grounds in the area and at sunset when they come back. The small detour from the hiking trail is rewarded with a beautiful view of the Rederang Lake.
