Hiking
After several Turkish attacks on the city, in 1577 the fortifications began to be strengthened. Instead of the medieval city towers at the corners of the city wall, protruding bastions were built. Due to financial and structural problems, the much more extensive planned fortress extension was completed according to simpler plans in 1581. The fortification was abandoned in 1775 and renovated from 1990 onwards.
