The oil mill in St. Julian, built in 1730, is considered one of the last operational oil mills in Europe. Today, the unique process of oil extraction is demonstrated only for demonstration purposes. Their peeling or tanning process with vibrating device and wind house is in the opinion of experts unique in Germany. The mill is now a listed building and is considered a marvel of old mill engineering.

In 2008, the mill received a new waterwheel. The work was carried out in-house by Reiner Klink, Berthold Bender and Hans Werner Mensch. Thanks to the meticulous precision and the attention to detail of the community workers, the mill has since been able to be operated in the "old" style again, making it an experience for visitors "as it used to be". To visit the oil mill is year round by prior arrangement.
