Idyllic rest area at Hald Lake.
With a quarter of a million visitors per year, the Hald Lake/Dollerup Bakker area
is one of the most popular destinations in Viborg Municipality. It has been declared a "national geological interest area," an "EU habitat area," and a "cultural landscape of special conservation." Furthermore, the village of Dollerup is considered a "village of special conservation."
The area around Hald Lake is truly something special.
The approximately 1,600-hectare area of Hald Lake and Dollerup Bakker is a nature reserve. Due to the glacial remnants and the dramatic elevation differences between the 31-meter-deep lake and the steep slopes south of the lake,
the area is often referred to as the "icing on the cake of Denmark's glacial geology."
