      The Church of the Holy Cross was built out of a barn for the displaced community in 1957 with sacrifices and efforts. Since most of the Catholics living in Hornhausen unfortunately do not practice the faith today, regular services are no longer celebrated here. Unfortunately, in 2012 the church council was forced to sell the church to a private individual subject to certain conditions. Bishop Feige has therefore declared them profane. The relics were removed and the consecrated altar was buried.

      The Hornhausen bell was removed and made available for a new monastery in Poland.
