The Neun Brunnen recreation park is still worth a short detour. Unfortunately, the restaurants are mostly closed and there is no longer a children's playground. During my childhood, every hiking day at school led here.

Hiking

The area of today's "Neun Brunnen", located south of the town of Heiligenstadt in the Pferdebach valley, was first mentioned in 1634. It got its name from the nine springs (Neun Börner). The area is still rich in springs today, although the exact number is not known. As early as the 19th century, the area of the "Neun Brunnen" was a popular destination for Heiligenstadt families. People would meet up and have picnics.
