The Binhack House is the birthplace of the well-known Waldsassen history professor and honorary citizen Prof. Franz Binhack (born 1836, deceased 1915). In 1928 a memorial plaque was placed in his honor. In the Abbey Museum, Prof. Binhack is dedicated to a room with pictures and furniture from his possession.

Born on April 11, 1836 in Waldsassen, the son of the merchant merchants Johann Nepomuk and Karolina Binhack, the deceased remained loyal to his homeland for a lifetime and was connected to her in many ways. In 1847 he came "to the school" in the monastery Metten and two years later to the high school to Amberg, which he graduated in 1855 with great success. After that followed humanist studies in Munich, in 1864 he became a high school teacher in Eichstätt, later in Neuburg on the Danube and Amberg. The next stations as Gymnasialprofessor formed Burghausen, Eichstätt and Passau. Finally, Franz Binhack retired in 1906 and from then on lived in Munich.
