Not entirely easy - just wearing good shoes and a head for heights helps immensely. The path is briefly exposed directly on and around the Gaisalphorn.

The Niederecksattel can be reached from the valley either from Oberstdorf via the Rubihornsteig or coming from Reichenbach past the Unterer Gaisalpsee via the Gaisalpsteig. Both climbs and the saddle itself are partially insured and require sturdy shoes and a head for heights.
