The flood retention basin Reichenbach (also Reichenbachsee Spraitbach) is located near Spraitbach near Schwäbisch Gmünd in Baden-Württemberg in Ostalbkreis.
The dam is an earth dam and dams the Reichenbach, a tributary of the flax, to a small permanent reservoir with a capacity of only 45,000 m³ and an extension of 2.85 ha, the largest part of the reservoir is filled only at high tide.
The flood retention basin belongs to the water association Kocher-Lein. This flood retention basin (HRB) - like ten other HRB along the flax - was built by the Kocher-Lein water association. With the construction of these flood retention basins, the risk of flooding in Leintal on both sides and in the central Kochertal valley is to be reduced. In addition, the reservoir serves the local recreation.
