In the heart of the Itria valley, in the Figazzano district, at the intersection of the white lime villages of Cisternino and Locorotondo, and a short distance from the blue Adriatic sea, there are "I Giardini di Pomona", where biodiversity is a gem in the thousand and plus - literally - varieties of ancient fruit plants from all over the world and many of them saved from extinction.
The ten hectares of the Conservatory, conducted organically, combine the conservation of nature with low-impact tourist hospitality, in a landscape of great charm.
A thousand different varieties of fruit trees make up a historical botanical path of traditional and rare plants. An important collection is dedicated to the species Ficus carica (the fig) which, with its 560 varieties, is one of the most important in the Mediterranean basin
