14 saints who, since the late Middle Ages, have been venerated primarily in southern Germany and Austria, are invoked in times of difficult need and are considered energetic intercessors and helpers.
In addition to Christopher, the Holy Helpers included Saints Achatius, Giles, Barbara, Blaise, Cyriacus, Dionysius, Erasmus, Eustace, George, Catherine, Margaret, Pantaleon, and Vitus.
