The varied recreation area between Moritzberg and Franconian sand dunes is located just 20 km east of the Central Franconian metropolis of Nuremberg.

The municipality of Leinburg is embedded in the triangle of cities Altdorf, Lauf, Hersbruck. The municipality is bordered to the north by the 600 m high Moritzberg and to the east by the mountain range of the Franconian Jura foothills. With its rural structure, the municipality is part of Nuremberg's local recreation area and is a popular destination because of its high recreational value and good culinary offerings.
