The five meter high figure was created by Andi Feldmann. Andi Feldmann
Andreas (Andi) Feldmann lives and works as a universal artist near Ulsnis. His brother Rötger Feldmann is known as a draftsman of the "Werner" comics. Both worked together on comics and films for years.
    The story of the figure:
An old legend tells: “In the vicinity of today's village Ulsnis once lived a mighty giant who was called the old man because of his age. His son was far superior to him in size and strength. To be independent from his father, he waded through the Schlei and lived in the Rieseby area. Several times it happened, however, that the two insulted each other over the Schlei and threw boulders at each other. But the argument only broke out when the old man started building a church near Ulsnis. The son noticed everything his father was doing from the mountain near where he lived. He didn't want to be inferior to him, so he built a church that was supposed to be even taller and more beautiful. When the old man noticed this from a hill, he shouted bitter reproaches to his son. Soon they both got angry and threw the largest blocks they found in the fields, one after the other. The high towers of the churches were soon thrown down, and the anger increased as a result. At the same time, both were hit by a stone, fatally injured, they sank to the ground and soon died. The old man's head fell out into the loop, and this formed the Nes peninsula on the Gunnebyer Noor, and the place was named Ulsnis after the old man. The place where the younger one lived was called Rieseby. ”In 2012, the regional artist Andi Feldmann made a five-meter-high steel figure that was set up in front of the local kindergarten and has since become a magnet for visitors. It is planned to set up a corresponding second figure on the other Schleiufer in Rieseby.
