Cellulose Attisholz AG was founded in 1881 and was the only cellulose factory in Switzerland at the time. In a turbulent history, Attisholz also took over the German company Hakle in 1983, known for toilet paper, which has since been sold to the large Kimberly-Clark group together with Tela. For two years in the 2000s it even belonged to Christopher Blocher.
The factory was finally closed in 2008.
Over the next 20 - 30 years it should be gradually developed into a lively and diverse district of the municipality of Riedholz with a variety of housing types, jobs, services, sports and leisure activities, art and culture and gastronomy - at least that's what it says in the 'prospectus'.

The local recreation area Uferpark at the gates of the city of Solothurn invites young and old to linger, relax and enjoy. A wide bike path, a promenade for strollers, barbecue areas with wooden benches, natural windows with access to the Aare and a beach leave nothing to be desired.

On a beautiful sunny day or a warm summer evening, it's wonderful in the culture and meeting center. An industrial oasis worth visiting.
