The simple structure was built from 1847 to 1849 according to plans of the Schinkel student August Stüler from birch black clinker. With its romantic forms, it is considered a quality example of the ecclesiastical round arch style in its early, Italianizing phase. Since 1961, two bells have been ringing in the tower, as at the time of construction.
