Even though the roof structure, as well as the windows and doors, are completely missing from the building, the outer walls of the former church are surprisingly well preserved for a church ruin—or have presumably been carefully restored. It's not surprising that the church was once dedicated to Saint Nicholas: As the patron saint of sailors (among other things), his cult is very widespread along the Mediterranean coast.
