Schönower Heide Nature Reserve

The Schönower Heide wild animal grazing project offers you not only the opportunity to observe fallow deer, red deer and mouflon, but also insights into a landscape dominated by heathland. Here you can experience a particularly rare habitat that is worth protecting and its natural way of managing and caring for it. The game helps to keep the landscape open by eating, trampling and raking with its antlers. Information boards provide information about typical plants and animals of the Schönower Heide and about the individual game species.

Nature has spread wonderfully again on the former military training ground.

A magnificent natural area, quite rare in this form in Germany, except in Brandenburg. The area (which you are not actually supposed to enter, despite the many paths!) is really attractive when the heather is in bloom. - Be careful: it is much too late in September, and you should even look early in August! Otherwise you will unfortunately miss out on the greatest possible beauty.
