MOORSEE - MORE THAN FLOUR AND MILL

Contrary to what you might think, flour was not only ground, oats were crushed and pearl barley was peeled on the Moorsee mill site. Milling has always been a purely seasonal business and therefore only limited to certain times of the year.

But even when there were few orders, the family had to be taken care of and the servants paid. In order to cushion these economic bottlenecks, many milling companies rely on several different pillars.

In Moorsee, for example, they ran a haulage company, their own bakery, a pig farm, a small farm and animal husbandry and much more.

In addition, especially in rural areas, there were also everyday activities such as churning, slaughtering and plumbing and of course general housework.
