The healing springs in Bad Mergentheim, formerly healing springs in Mergentheim, are located in the area of the outer and inner spa gardens, near the Tauber in the spa town of Bad Mergentheim, in the Main-Tauber district in north-eastern Baden-Württemberg. Three of the four springs, Albertquelle, Karlsquelle and Wilhelmsquelle, are drinking sources according to the mineral composition, while the Paulsquelle, which is unsuitable for drinking, is a bathing spring. The springs formed the basis for Bad Mergentheim as a spa town and international medicinal bath. The decisive event was the discovery of salty water by a shepherd and his sheep in 1826. The healing springs are considered worthy of protection and were therefore included in the geotope register of Baden-Württemberg (Wikipedia) as healing springs in the Kurpark Bad Mergentheim.

As a drinking cure, the medicinal water from the Karlsquelle is prescribed primarily to stimulate bile and pancreatic secretion. But it is also used for constipation, heartburn and metabolic diseases such as gout or diabetes.
