This is what the legend says:
Metal panels with the five wounds of Christ were attached here. A short time later, a Swedish soldier became angry about the depictions and struck one of the images of the Virgin Mary eight times. He was captured shortly afterwards, taken to Munich and sentenced to death. The sentence was supposedly carried out with three sword blows.
