In the Bluttal, this inconspicuous, southeast-sloping valley south of Mendorferbuch, a battle is said to have taken place in the 10th century, which is connected to the pilgrimage church of Stettkirchen in the nearby Lauterachtal.

The origin of this pilgrimage is based on the following bloodthirsty legend: In 976, Emperor Otto II fought a costly battle near Mendorferbuch against Duke Henry II of Bavaria, the so-called "Quarrel." Blood is said to have flowed from the "Bluttal" all the way to the Lauterachtal. The emperor promised to build a church in the event of his victory. He was victorious and kept his promise.

Allegedly, metal parts such as horseshoes and arrowheads were repeatedly dug up in this area in the past.
