With many buildings constructed under the patronage of the Bathurst family in the iconic Cotswold Arts & Crafts style, Sapperton is a gorgeous village that’s typical of the wider region. It is also notable for the Thames and Severn Canal’s 2-mile (3 km) long Sapperton Canal Tunnel, which was once the longest in the country.
Hikers are well catered for at the nearby Daneway pub, where the Muddy Boots Cafe makes for an excellent pit stop. The establishment also serves great evening meals and has a campsite. In Sapperton itself is the Bell, which serves superb gastropub fare. You can seek accommodation to the west, in the village of Frampton Mansell.
