Bike Touring Highlight
This lock has no keeper to operate it. If you arrive by boat, you must operate the lock yourself. Text messages tell the skipper what to do next. Very interesting to watch.

Maybe now and then you can also watch paddlers at the locks. I did not have so much luck with my visit.

Very nice weir. A great excursion destination by bike or as a walk. Very well-kept area and great view of the power of the water!

The lock, built in 1820, is a simple chamber lock with vertical walls. The lock chamber and head of the lock consist of brick masonry with a sandstone cladding. The lock sole was laid out with sandstone blocks. Mortise gates, which are driven electromechanically, are used to close the chamber. The lock chamber is emptied and filled using short lateral circuits. The lock is approved for ships up to a length of about 47 meters, which corresponds to the unstrut dimension that is no longer common today. A bridge leads over the head of the lock.
