Abbey and Saaleaue near PlanenaThe nature reserve, consisting of three sub-areas, is located between Halle (Saale) and an industrial area west of Schkopau in a loop of the Saale. It protects a section of the Saale-Elster floodplain with remnants of alluvial forest, extensive areas of reed beds, backwaters, various standing water bodies and agricultural areas.
