The brick building on the left was built after a fire in 1869. The twin building on the right is around 20 years younger. They are a symbol for the beginnings of industrialization in Warendorf. The pioneers were Hermann Josef Brinkhaus and Eduard Wiemann. The joint company dissolved in 1879. Brinkhaus built his factory on the opposite bank, while Wiemann made his relative Christoph Bispinck a partner. In 1898 the company moved from Kirchstrasse to Bleichstrasse. A kindergarten and a sewing school were set up in the factory buildings that have been preserved at the beginning of the 20th century.
