Ruins of the castle in Sławków

The Castle of the Kraków Bishops in Sławków in the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura is one of the oldest brick fortified castles in southern Poland! The defensive structure dates from the thirteenth century and now, unfortunately, not much remains of it, only negligible ruins.
The task of the Sławków castle was to defend access to Krakow. Its existence has been discovered over the years
1983-90, when archaeological excavations were carried out on a small hill to reveal the ruins of a 13th-century castle.
An archaeological reserve was created at the site of the sensational discovery of such an attraction and the research carried out here.
In addition to the ruins of the castle, the remains of ramparts and a moat, as well as 15th-century parts of armor and numerous 16th-century stove tiles were discovered here.
