Location and history: Most of the Braunhalde forest area belongs to the Esslingen-Liebersbronn district. It connects to the Birkengehrn forest area in an easterly direction and is bordered by the Roman road in the south and the municipality of Aichwald in the north.
As in the Birkengehrn forest area, the forest is a mixed forest, but where the deciduous trees dominate.
A settlement in the forest area Braunhalde has already been in very early times due to various finds.
For example, on the southwest slope of the Braunhalde there is a Celtic square hill from the La Tène period
In the Braunhalde forest area there is also a group of burial mounds from the pre-Roman times, as well as a Neolithic settlement area and Bronze Age burial mounds
Quarry stones made of Angulate sandstone and pottery shards from the 2nd century were also discovered on the southwest slope of the Braunhalde in 1924.
Since September 12, 1990, the area around the Haldenbach has also been designated as a Stettener Bach nature reserve.
