The Heldingkerk is one of the oldest buildings in the village of Hoenderloo. The church dates from 1858 with the first reformed pastor Ds. F. van Loenen.

Ds. Ottho Heldring, also known as the discoverer of Hoenderloo, is the founder of the Reformed municipality that started in the year 1854.

The building, built in Neo-Gothic style, has been listed as a monument since 2000 and the interior underwent a major overhaul in 2005.

Since 1968 the church also has an ecumenical function and Roman Catholic services are also held.

The church was built in the years 1857/1858 on the initiative of the pastor Otto Gerhard Heldring. Heldring obtained permission from the reformed synod for the foundation of the church in 1853. The foundation stone for the church was laid on August 29, 1857 by Heldring's daughter, Louise Henriëtte. The white-plastered hall church has a gable roof. The facade tower on the southwest side is crowned with a copper-covered spire. At the top is a cross with a weather vane.
