The St. Mariä Geburt Parish Church is a rare example of a two-aisled late Gothic hall church in the Eifel region. This distinctive style, possibly introduced by Cardinal Nikolaus Cusanus, features rich star and net vaults supported by slender, capitelless octagonal and round pillars. The interior also boasts sculpted keystones, a Renaissance-style Marian altar from 1625, and an ancient baptismal font believed to be from 1559.

Are there any specific historical events or periods that shaped the church's current appearance?

The lower part of its tower likely dates back to the Romanesque period, with upper stories added around 1559. The church suffered significant damage during World War II, with most repairs completed by 1949, followed by interior restoration in 1954 and 1955.

What are the most notable artistic features inside the St. Mariä Geburt Parish Church?

Beyond its unique vaults and pillars, the church houses several artistic treasures. These include a neo-Gothic high altar designed by Heinrich Wiethase, a Renaissance-style Marian altar from 1625, and a historic baptismal font from 1559.
