Monteciccardo is located in a hilly area, in the center of the hills that divide the lower Foglia valley from that of the lower Metauro, close to the valley of the Arzilla stream.
It is mentioned for the first time, together with the castles of Montegaudio and Monte S.Maria, in a document from 1283 as a castle directly dependent on Pesaro, a city whose fortunes Monteciccardo has always followed throughout the centuries.
