The devotional figure from the middle of the 18th century belonging to Hof Schulze Ising is a rare document of popular piety in the outer area of the village of Asbeck.
The impressive location in the open field under linden trees should be emphasized. The devotional figure is carried by a high platform made of sandstone. The figure of Saint Michael shows the dragon slayer with dissolute wings. In Christianity, Michael is particularly considered to be the conqueror of the devil in the form of the dragon. His attributes are thus the sword and the dragon.

This statue was dedicated to Archangel Michael. The name (from the Hebrew) means "Who is like God?". Often he is shown with a flaming sword, occasionally also a lance. Along with Raphael, Gabriel, and Uriel, Michael is one of the four archangels who (according to human conception) hold the highest rank in the heavenly hierarchy of angelic beings. Their common feast day in the calendar of saints is September 29th.
