The popular NTKC camping site De Heerkuil is located in the southern tip of Limburg, just on the edge of the village of Sint Geertruid. This site is surrounded by green hills and consists of grassland with some shelter from trees and shrubs. You will find cozy camping spots on various terraces, and at the bottom there are some larger camping meadows available. And of course, for cozy evenings, there is a small campfire pit.
One of the many reservoirs that are intended to accommodate the pumping away of valuable rainwater due to illegal groundwater level reductions by industrial 'farmers'.
A beautiful hidden gem, where the Pipo wagons once stood in a circle, and where there is still an NTKC campsite.
Many roads lead from here to the oldest "Stenen Huys" still in family possession, the manor of Mhaer.
A castle that has grown organically and offers more perspectives than the palace on Dam Square 😉
And where I just know my neighbor as Diederik, even though he is now officially Baron van Mheer after the death of his beautiful father Degenhardt de Loë.
We also owe it to this beautiful family that everyone is welcome here, because 40% of the people with Mheerwaarde are *Remigrants*.
When I once mentioned to myself while drinking coffee that I was an immigrant from the Wild West, they got angry...
"We don't talk about *People* like that here, everyone is welcome here, you are at best an immigrant."
That makes you think how often you unconsciously put people in a box, while we are all no more or less than anyone else, ordinary or extraordinary, you are human.
"those who want to make a distinction just go to the toilet, with their unhealthy thoughts."
An extraordinary village *village*, with age-old traditions, such as the Harmony, which actually wanted to throw a party this year because of its 200th anniversary...
A village full of exceptionally nice, creative and story-telling people.
As beautifully depicted in *het Dorp* a broadcast by Huub Stapel and someone who plays less cock at the front and so I don't remember the name.
It is certainly worth a visit, but from now on, don't all come at the same time, because the peace and quiet could finally be experienced again, now that the Amste Gold had closed the whole of Limburg to tourists.
The photo of the trash can is unfortunately not an incident, it would be nice if you put your bread in a bread box and coffee and tea in the thermos during your visit.
Because even though empicelateur was once my profession, I still find it a bad idea that empicelateurs are needed in a so-called civilized country, don't you?
So come and enjoy yourself and during the season you can do so while enjoying locally grown Jan's Summer Royals.
Available in the Strawberry refrigerator in Steegstraat.
Good luck and health, but please put the face mask in the bag, and not just in the bushes along the Heerkuil...
