Former station area that nature has reclaimed. Today also a great biotope.

The Breitenleer marshalling yard was built between the northern branch and the Marchegger branch of the Eastern Railway with a connection to the Northern Railway and was the largest in the Vienna area; without exit tracks, it was around 4 km long and up to 500 m wide. Its northwest exit formed a loop to the northern line towards Floridsdorf and a second to the eastern line (there traffic point Breitenlee north branch) towards Laa an der Thaya and to the northern line towards Gänserndorf. Its south-eastern exit formed a loop to the Marchegger branch in the direction of Stadlau and a double-track loop to the Marchegger branch in the direction of Marchegg (in the Gleisdreieck the traffic point Breitenlee south junction). The former train station area is the most important natural biotope, a coherent complex of dry grass, trees and ponds close to nature, in Vienna between Bisamberg and Lobau. In Austria, rare species grow in this area, such as the field mountain fennel (Seseli campestre) or the hemp marshmallow ( Althaea cannabina).

The Breitenlee marshalling yard was built between 1912 and 1914 by the k.k. Austrian State Railways (k.k.StB.) planned. However, construction could only begin some time after the outbreak of the First World War, after the k.u.k. Had convinced the military of the need to support the project.

Almost a lost place, but apparently the train is still running!
