As the midway peak of the legendary Ring of Steall circuit above Coire a’Mhail, hikes to Am Bodach take you to a giant of the Mamores range. It is a muscular mountain, a towering presence over Kinlochleven to the south and a prominent peak for miles around. Sandwiched between the Nevis range and Glencoe, its summit is a magnificent podium in the heart of the West Highlands.

Am Bodach is the bulky Munro peak at the centre of the classic Ring of Steall. It is most easily accessed from Kinlochleven, the village its muscular southern flanks dominate. The final ascent from the north is punishingly steep, but your reward is a jaw-dropping panorama of the surrounding mountains, including a superb view of the Devil's Ridge and north to the might of Ben Nevis.
