The railing of the bridge is made of thick wooden logs and branches. Alkmaar once had 3 such bridges, but 2 of them were replaced by wider bridges when more traffic came.
There were once plans to turn Nassualaan into a thoroughfare, and then the Kneppelbrug would have been replaced by a wider bridge.
