The Nassau Bridge, popularly known as the Kneppel Bridge, was built in 1908 when the new Nassaukwartier district was being built.
The railing of the bridge is made of thick wooden logs and branches. Alkmaar once had 3 such bridges, but 2 of them were replaced by wider bridges when more traffic came.
There were once plans to turn Nassualaan into a thoroughfare, and then the Kneppelbrug would have been replaced by a wider bridge.
