Lake Sassano is located on the immediate western outskirts of the town of Conversano. It is one of the lakes most modified by human action, and more

intensely exploited by local inhabitants (it is no coincidence that it has the largest number of cisterns, equal to 31).

It has an isosceles triangle shape. This shape does not actually reflect the morphological characteristics of the area, which instead show a larger depression that extends beyond the current limits of the lake, and which in exceptional events can be occupied by water.
