Welcome to the SchollenrietThe two areas of Bannriet and Spitzmäder are former peat cut areas that are now under nature protection. In the middle of the protected area is the Schollenmühle, a former peat factory. It serves as an information center for visitors to the area and houses an exhibition on the subjects of nature conservation and peat extraction. The exhibition is open all day and admission is free.
An underwater cube on the Schollenmühl area and a lookout tower at the Spitzmäder nature reserve open up new observation perspectives. You will get a particularly diverse insight into the landscape on an 8-kilometer circular route through the Riet with 13 information cubes. A visit is particularly worthwhile in the summer months, between April and October.
