It is very interesting to watch the ships in the lock from the bridge. It takes a while, but the opportunity is good. The lock operation is fascinating to watch. Here you can watch how large cargo ships and river cruise ships pass through the lock and overcome the difference in height of the Danube.

The Ybbs-Persenbeug power station is not only the oldest Danube power station in Austria, but also one of the most impressive technical structures along the Danube. Together with the lock system, it is an important landmark for the region and a popular destination for bicycle tours and technology enthusiasts. The power station was built between 1954 and 1959 and was the first Danube power station in Austria.

There is a visitor center that offers insights into how the power station works and its history. The power station is located directly on the Danube cycle path, which runs along both banks. The stretch between Ybbs and Persenbeug is particularly attractive, offering a mixture of nature and technology along the Danube.

The 460 m long dam wall dams the Danube at river kilometer 2,060.42 over a length of around 34 km to a height of 10.9 m. The content of the storage space is approx. 74 million m³, the storage target is at an altitude of 226.2 m.
At the left, northern end of the dam are the two locks, each with a usable length of 230 m and a usable width of 24 m.
The weir consists of 5 weir fields with a width of 30 m each and is located in the middle of the dam.

From the bridge you can watch the passage of the ships very well.
