Debela Peč is the northernmost two-thousander in the Pokljuka Mountains, stretching from Bohinjske Vratce in the south to the Radovna Valley in the north. The mountain range borders the vast Pokljuka plateau, and on the other side, with its cut-off walls, it falls steeply into the Krma valley. The mountain range includes, from south to north, Tosc (2275 m), Veliki Draški Vrh (2243 m), Mali Draški Vrh (2132 m), Debeli Vrh (1962 m), Lipanski Vrh (1968 m) and Debela Peč. East of Mali Draški Vrh, Viševnik (2050 m) rises from the ridge to the south. The slopes of the peaks above the Pokljuka Plateau are partly overgrown with forests and scrubland, and partly grassy.
Debela Peč is the easternmost two-thousander in the Julian Alps. The western wall falls steeply into Krma; to the north it passes over Klečica (1889 m) and Stresenica (1789 m) into the Radovna valley; the eastern and southern slopes descend steeply to the Pokljuka plateau. The summit is grassy, while the slopes above Pokljuka are soon wooded below the summit. Debela Peč is quite popular due to its easy access, beautiful view and proximity to the Bled hut.
From Debela Peč we can see a green expanse of extensive forests; to the east, behind the plateau, Bled Corner is revealed, and on the other side of the Sava, the Gorenjska plain with Lesce and Radovljica and the Karavanke Mountains (Stol, Begunjščica, Košuta) and the Kamnik Alps (Dobrča, Storžič, Kočna, etc.) above it. On the southern side of the plateau, the ridge of the Spodnje Bohinjske Mountains rises above the Bohinj valley from Črna prsti to Bogatin. The most beautiful view is to the west: deep below us is the Krma valley, on its western side the mountain ridge from Zgornja Radovna to Zgornja Krma with Dimniki and Luknja pečja; behind Zgornja Krma we can clearly see Triglav and on the right Rjavina; nearby is Lipanski vrh. On the northern side is the Zgornja Radovna valley, and further on part of the Sava valley with Mojstrana and Dovje, and the Karavanke with Kepa.
