Tips
Around 850 AD, missionaries from the Bishop of Minden built a chapel on this site, which was already named after Peter and Paul. In 1956-1959, during a renovation of the Peter & Paul Church, the remains of the foundation walls of the chapel were uncovered. At the time of the chapel, there were only a few farms in the area. The town of Hermannsburg was first mentioned in documents in 1059, almost 200 years later.
