Oude Kerk Dongen

The Old Church is the Reformed Church of Dongen, located at Kerkstraat 56. The western part of the church is a ruin.

The first Gothic church dates from the 14th century. During the 80-year war, the church suffered a lot from the violence. In 1648 the church entered the Netherlands. Reformed hands left. After demolition, storm and various vicissitudes over the years, the choir and transepts were restored between 1930 and 1932. The spire was also rebuilt. However, the ship remained in ruinous condition. In 1973 a foundation was set up to save the church, today Stichting De Oude Kerk called. The church acquired this property in 1974. Restoration work was then carried out, the (tiled) roof was slated again, and a barrel vault was installed in the interior.
