Best Hikes to Heilenbecke Reservoir

Tips

  • The special thing about this dam is its age: built between 1894 and 1896, it is the oldest dam in South Westphalia and is a listed building. Originally used as a water reservoir for the hammer mills and grinding huts along the Heilenbecke, it is now mainly used to supply drinking water. Unfortunately, swimming is forbidden! It is a hotspot for local anglers.
