Immersed in the green of the Rivoltana countryside stands a small building of worship, the Oratory of Santa Maria del Paladino, known as "il Paladino". Its name derives from the fact that, between the 11th and 12th centuries, a defensive fortress stood nearby, protecting the many surrounding agricultural settlements. The Oratory, built only towards the middle of the 15th century, is dedicated to the Madonna and to San Maurizio, a warrior martyr.
The building has a gabled structure preceded by a pronaos added towards the middle of the seventeenth century. On the central door there is a fresco probably from the early sixteenth century representing the Virgin Mary with the Child between two saints, believed to be respectively San Maurizio (as co-holder of the Oratory) and an unidentifiable Bishop Saint (perhaps Sant'Alberto Quadrelli, patron saint of Rivolta d'Adda and bishop of Lodi). The Oratory is also equipped with a square-based bell tower with a gable roof.
In the past, two paintings - lost - from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries were also kept inside: one depicted St. Maurice on horseback and the other St. Anthony of Padua with the coat of arms of the Milanese Settala nobles.
